Having seen and used so many emulations of the Pultech over the years, it's nice to see UA produce such a well done model of the original.
At first you may be confused to see that you can boost and attenuate at the same time, but thats the beauty of the Pultech, creating harmonic overtones and really fattening the sound. I love using this bad boy or the 'Pro' big brother UA offers on Bass and Guitars that are lacking a certain 'heft'. The Pultech can also save vocals and harmonies that are sounding a little thin or just not cutting it in the mix.
This is the Pultec that came with my Apollo Quad within the "Analog Classics" bundle that you get for free. It was a little harder for me to figure out than the Harrison 32 EQ that I also use but it has its own unique sound quality and abilities in my opinion. It still adds some warmth when you simply want to run some signal through it. Spend a little time with it and see what it can do for you.
A nice colouring vintage emulation. Pultec eq technique. Good one.
Love the way it sounds just after turning it on! I always use it on the drums' overheads to keep low frequencies quiet and get some detailed cymbals just using two knobs. Maybe one of the best plugs out there.
I use it to ad certain frequency and its very precise and very sensitive... You can here how delicate is this eq. I ussauly use it for dums bus or to add more treble in vocals... actually, on everything!
Very intuitive product !! Easy to use and souding very good.
It's my prefered EQ !
Love the pultec. A little goes a long way. Would recommend applying in small doses first to get a feel.
Of all the clones out there it sounds the best. It even gets better with the other half.
