I think this is the best reverb for drums and percussions there is on the software market. It has a nice non-metallic sound, it's kinda hard to explain, very smooth. Way better than dreamverb in my opinion. Also nice when you put it to the Master-Out, EQ it just right and turn it on to 5%, it "glues" the end mix to one piece. And for this price it's better than tc.
I bought a lot of plugs from UA (projpak, fairchild, cambridge, precEQ, preLim, BossFX, LA2A, 1176LN and the Plate 140).
After i mixed a demo (using only the Plate 140 as reverb), i brought the tape to a professional audio-engineer (he had several hits in the german charts).
His comment: "the reverb is not very satisfiying...".
I trusted in all the comments and all the evaluations shown up in this area!
I recognized, not to trust in too many people - in the future i will trust my own ears.
Sure - plug-ins give you the possibility to get a certain quality to a low price.
But in my opinion it is only "good" but not "great".
There is a difference between hard- and software.
Please be honest.
Thank you, Bernie.
Hi, update on the UAD version 6 1 is no longer my EMT 140. what do I do now?
Love the sound ! stands out no question about it. love it in the voc and horns
The EMT-140 is a smooth reverb that makes it easy to dial in a lush vocal sound on slower or vintage sounding tracks. Nice for longer vocal or horn verbs. Try pairing it with a shorter reverb (on 2 different aux sends) to balance between ER and larger sense of space.
I love the EMT 140 from UA. It had been on my wish list since I got on the platform. It's really good on both short and long tails. Between this and the spacier Lexicon, which I also have, I can cover most of my reverb needs. Sometime, I hope to pick up the Ocean Way for drums and room sounds, but the EMT 140 is great on vocals, snare, synth sounds, and as a catch-all send in my rock mixes.
The EMT140 is a great reverb unit that lets you dial in the right tone with the EQ section. It's simple, sounds great, and is very versatile.
The only thing it needs is an upgrade to the graphics -- they're a little cheesy by today's standards. Other than that, it's great.
I have a lot of reverb plugins, Waves, Sonnox, Overloud, IK multimedia and more.
And I had used to insert the Sonnox reverb especially.
Now I've got the UA EMT 140.
This is the most beautiful, just Real and Fantastic sounds.
The density and width are great.
I'll continue to use this reverb on Vocals, Drums.
I have different native reverb plugins (algorithmic, and convolution) and I used many hardware one's live and in studio (tc electronic, lexicon, ...)
I wasn't going to buy this plugin because I was quite satisfied with what I have;
when I bought my uad-2 duo I got an offer to have this plugin and the neve 88rs for free and I asked UAD to exchange the emt for a fairchild 670...
the gave me both for free!
thank god they did!!!
I just love this plugin
I'm the kind of guy who likes to read manuals and understand and tweak every parameter, I didn't felt the need of doing so with this plugin it just sounds sooo good "as is": just choose a preset and try to change plate model, predelay and decay time and you're there
Not so amazing as everybody says, but a good reverb.
Great lush rever, The input filter is especially useful. The three plates all have a unique character. They all sound so good in different ways, it sometimes takes me a while to decide which one i want to use! It would be great if you could morph between them, seamlessly.
I use it on nearly every mix. Such a dense and deep sounding plate.
This reverb is really good. You can add space without muddying your mix. It's bright but it sounds pleasureble. Best soft plate I have.
This reverb does exactly what it's supposed to. It's warm and big and lush. And it add a sparkle but not harsh in any way. It's not fully flexible and the possibility of a shorter tail would be great ( I know it's a plate).
This kind of reverb has his very distinct personality, so you can use it in very specific situation, I mean I don't see it as a any situation "good to go" reverb. But when you need it, wow that is the deal.
This reverb has the right vintage sound and works on any music style. Great user interface.
I have used it most on vox and i have a very great result. I have been sick and could not work so much sense i punch it but i am gonna be very satisfied.
Like usual UA plug is the greatest
Very easy to use and very efficient great for the voices
great reverb with unique tone, doesn't work on everything because it's very specific!
just try it and it can be magical, musical or just not the good choice sometimes.
My favorite reverb until EMT250 was released as UAD-plug-in. Sounds a bit metallic as implied by the original technique this effect was engineered (a large metal plate). If you want to make your vocals sound like 60s on the reverb, here's your solution.
A huge [by my taste] verb unit. Nothing to be used 'lightly' so to speak, as it adds a huge verb - which is a great think on more ambient/atmospheric tracks. I had a lot of fun running a simple patch&melody through this while it was being modulated for some groovy results. A huge and deep verb unit, but i tend to use it more for pads/strings/vox; not my cup of tea for snares/kicks as its just a bit too big in my opinion.
