    Cambridge EQ Plug-In

    by V. Uhov . 5 out of 5 stars

After buying the UAD- 2 Octo Core question arose about the equalizer as a working tool in my work. Heard a lot of good things about Cambridge EQ Plug-In. Very versatile can be used to track channel and master.
Immediately decided to try. Comparing Eq Channel included in the program Logic Pro 9 so badly disappointed . So many years have used this Eq Channel but when compared with Cambridge EQ Plug-In - Hi Pass filter is not correctly cut the lower frequencies ... had to choose cutoff frequency only was more audible effect . Cambridge EQ Plug-In when choosing the same value immediately heard his work. a subtle and precise tool!

This is a good solid eq to turn to when other eq's can't do what you need to do!!!

    Great Job UA

The cambridge eq is is my "Go To" Eq plugin

    by B. Mclendon . 5 out of 5 stars

UAD’s Cambridge EQ is very similar to Sonnox’s
Oxford EQ in terms of its colourful graphic layout
as well as functionality. Cambridge wins me over
with its pristine yet warm sound quality. This EQ
is often described as being “surgical”. Indeed it
does provide a really detailed, flexible set of
parameters, which are pretty intuitive to handle.
But the analog sweetness that can be achieved
with just gentle curves is what really impresses
    me with this plugin.

My goto EQ for allmost everything

    by P. Munch . 5 out of 5 stars

I use this EQ on every single track I produce. I do use other plugins like flux and waves, but this baby is my workhorse. Having access to the butterworth 3-6 filters is helpful in getting my basses and kicks to sit perfectly in the mix.

first impressions for sample based use

    by S. Hudson . 4 out of 5 stars

Real nice tool for putting back those bits you wanna
hear. Top end is silky and twiddle the attenuate roles
off or blends. Because of the smooth smudgy effect it
imparts on loops an drum it really bites alot better.
Its the first eq i think of now. Not an envelope shaper
eq more a add abit off balls.

Great character - impossible to make it sound bad

    by L. Wolfe . 5 out of 5 stars

I haven't used a hardware Pultec but if this plugin is even 1/4 as good it truly is the holy grail it's rumored to be. The top is open and airy, the phasey tube quality is warm and pleasant on guitar and voice. You can get very aggressive without sounding awful. The MEQ is a very useful addition for going from just character to a bit of sculpting.

    UAD-2 1073 / 1073SE Plugin

    by T. Hildebrandt . 5 out of 5 stars

Great transparent EQ. The presets are an excellent starting point to tweek instruments and vox. My only wish is that I bought the duo card instead of the solo card. Good job UA!

    great emulation

    by C. Schneider . 5 out of 5 stars

I own a hardware 1073 and think about selling it in because this emulation is close enough for my needs.
Both sound great, so I save the money and buy other nice gear...!

    As close as it get's

    by P. Mildenberg . 5 out of 5 stars

when i installed UAD's Pultec pro eq i really noticed the difference with other plugins that claimed to be something like the original Pultec eq.In the past when analog was king i used to work in a recording studio recording some of the most important hits that
populated the charts in my country Colombia and many other countries in the world.
at the time we used tu burn laquers as a final master of our mix i always liked to play with the pultec eq to correct poor eqs and give some weight to the mixes in question,it was allways a wonderfull tool to get results. Now days almost 30 years later i found the same feeling in UAD's Pultec Pro.its as close as it get's to analog feel in the digital domain.excellent tool to fix and warm up saggy mixes.

For many decades as the citizens of the Soviet Union we were granted no access to the fruits of the sound recording high technologies. And even now not every citizen of the former Soviet Union can indulge themself with Neve 1073 VST plug-in version, to say nothing of the hard version of Neve1073. I can boast using VST Plug-in Neve 1073 which I use in every project of mine and almost in every track. Mainly for vocal recording, drums, guitars. All my professional life has become divided into two big periods - "before" and "after " VST Plug-in Neve 1073... Neve – the best of nothing. Alexander Kizoub "Zapoy!Record".

Firstly I own a Crane Song Ibis, hardware.
I looked hard and listened hard to the Sonnox eq trying it out as you do.
I had been looking into UAD Omni for some time and unfortunately no trials which is understood.
I had Pro Tools 7 through 8.4 and except for the later 8.4 the plugins were, well, agricultural and not a pro vibe. All promises and little joy.
I read countless reviews of all software equipment and trialed the big name eq's of the time. The vibes I got on the UAD software although in minor numbers were definitive and when I got together my courage and purchased the whole Omni I was not disappointed.
The Cambridge eq, to my ears does everything in a musical fashion, it does everything well except make shrill edgy highs and muffled lows.
The Cambridge eq is in control of what audio passes through it and the test is what feeling you get when you listen to the audio passed through it.
The Sonnox to my ears is the other eq that passed my tests and I think the Cambridge most certainly is up there in it's own space. I have no need to purchase Sonnox now, I think the Cambridge is wonderful.
I have to say here that I recorded to tape for many years and although in pro studios it was a Studer 24 track, at home it was just a Tascam 38. Well when I heard the Cambridge I thought my journey for gear that sounds good and does what it was designed to do was over. This puts it in a nutshell really.

I just tested it in demo mode, but I can say it's a great-sounding and very powerful plugin.
An additional spectrum analyzer function would make it an even greater tool, for mastering purposes especially: if it will be implemented in the future, I will not hesitate a millisecond to buy it!

It took just under 1.4 miiliseconds- the time it took for my Genelec monitor's suddenly awake and happy soundwaves to hit me.....and my ears felt like they belonged to a bright young curious boy all over again.

It took me just under a minute to get on the web and buy it. Didn't even eek out the free demo period. For what? If you love sound, have I got a girl for you!!

Simply put, the Neve is now trapped in my studio, and Im never letting her out.
Well....maybe, but just a CD at a time

Masterful Job, Ladies and Gents at UA. You put the O-m-g in WOW!!

A Fantastic EQ! The filters are amazing.

I just finished mixing the new Clint Eastwood Film. The score was made up of a 60 piece orchestra featuring 2 Harps, Solo Piano, Acoustic Jazz Bass and 2 Acoustic guitars( Nylon and Steel string). All playing live in the same.

The Cambridge EQ was used on all featured instruments. Using the Filters to clean
up any unwanted low end rumble or noise. and EQ for carving

Harps were filtered at 80hz as well as the Acoustic guitars.
Some carving EQ on the harps at 300 hz with some top added 1db @ 8k an 5.6k to the guitars for some sparkle.

The Piano high mic was rolled off at 50 hz the low at 30hz. This was only EQ applied to the Piano.

    Jazz Bass 2db @ 63Hz and 1.5 db @ 2.4K.

    Fantastic,
    Rob

    Second view...disappointment.

    by A. Oberholz . 1 out of 5 stars

I was younger at my first review and more naive.
In the meantime I own a very precise swedish clone of the 1073.

The total absence of harmonics in the UAD 1073 EQ is a big disappointment.
It would have made total sense to also model the amplifying part and not only the EQ part.

When I purchased it I was young and believed I get a precise copy of the whole chain.

I would not buy it again because its just an EQ curve with the nice GUI.

In the future I will measure every plug in for its THD behavior before I buy it.
If this is not modeled correct I wont buy it.

The harmonics is the fun about the 1073 it gives the root note and the triad a nice fundament.... start from scratch UAD I paid for a 1073 model.

    Great start.

    by S. Grush . 4 out of 5 stars

I felt this was a great starting point for my ear to settle into the UAD line. I hit the Pultec on a hi-hat and guitar lead and loved what the subtle EQ moves did for the mix. I don't think I'll use this EQ to do a lot of heavy lifting for my mixing, but it has its purpose.
