This is the plug-in I cannot do without. I use it with every audiochannel in my Cubase. It adds "sound" to everything: vocals, ac and el-guitars, bass, saxophone and so on. My best buy so far.

I do mostly rock/metal productions and the 1081 is THE EQ to boost the Hi end without getting harsh. The low end is sweet too! Actually, it's a great EQ, lot's of character.
If you want a clean EQ, that's not the one for you.

This is (also)one of my favorite UAD plug-ins. Like the 1073 it has this suberb sound that makes everything going through it, sounds really nice. The 1081 is a bit more flexible than the 1073, but still the same musical touch is added. Highly recommended.

I keep coming back to this plugin. I bought it when it first appeared and loved it to death, you could run a lot of them on the UAD-1 and there was almost nothing it couldn't do. Oddly, it's the only Neve that I truly love. I love Neve preamps, but the classic Neve EQs are frustrating for me to use because I tend to prefer more control. Broad strokes are fine for color or big tonal shaping, but a lot of my tracks come from project studios where the tracking is seldom ideal. Unless I want to have two or more EQs on each track, the color EQs just ain't gonna cut it. The 88RS on the other hand is clean, sounds great, it quickly replaced the Cambridge as my surgical EQ, and the dynamics section is very polished. Often I will revisit old projects with new plugins, just to see what the new tech can do, and sometimes I'm amazed at how good the old ones sound with just the 88RS.

As it was packaged with my UAD2 card this channel strip is a great way to approach a mix. I often use it as a default on as many channels as applicable and start by setting gain levels. Having quality EQ and comp right in one plugin is good for making quick decisions and bringing a mix together quickly. I usually need a good reason to trade out to other plugins.

Unbelievable!! That's the word that comes to mind every time I use this plug in. If there's a channel strip that's more versatile and better sounding than the Neve 88RS I need to hear it! If you can only get one channel strip, this is the one to start with!
