Service department was incredibly helpful in solving my problems with my card. They replaced it immediately. I swear by my card. I can't live without it! It brings my mixes to life. It's like having 10 racks full of processing at you fingertips. How did we ever do without this?
Universal Audio ROCKS!!!!!
Wow, this things got some juice! I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7.
I upgraded from 2 UAD-1 PCI cards to the UAD-2 DUO. I opened up some of my old mixes that were tapped out, and man, there's plenty of power to spare.
I didn't even bother installing the UAD-1 cards, there's plenty of power with just one UAD-2 DUO card.
Now I have to check out some of the new UAD plugins, can't wait!
I have Pro Tools HD 2 with last Pro Tools HD 10.2 software.
I've used and tried tons of DSP plugins (TDM) ad native plugins (Waves, McDsp, Heat, Avid, Soundtoys, Softube, etc.)
I was thinking that adding a UAD-2 to my system would be ... something you can live without: well, I was wrong !
UAD-2 Nevana adds a lot of realism to my mix and using Neve plugins seems using the real thing: you have the sense of using a real knob with a real reaction.
I'm still using TDM and native plugins: I was wrong in the sense that UA plugins add a lot (a very lot) of colors in your palette, and are something different in the sense that I think they're the "retina display" of your sound ! Luca from Bologna, Italy
The Good:
I finally upgraded my old UAD1 card for the UAD2 Duo. I'm loving the increased DSP power; I can use UAD plugins on far more tracks than before.
The Bad:
I really miss the Nigel guitar suite. That thing was an unsung hero, especially (surprisingly enough) on my bass tracks.
The Ugly:
The harsh fact is that these cards are expensive. For a proffessional studio, I'd say it's a no-brainer, but for a project studio like mine, well, let's just say my wife will not allow me to buy anything else music-related for a while.
The UAD-2 Duo is not powerful enough to justify its cost. Like everything else at Universal Audio, it is over priced. Fortunately, I didn't have to purchase it - it came free with my LA-610 MkII, which is also over priced (like all Universal Audio Products). Getting the combination for just the price of the LA-610 MkII amounted to a reasonable purchase so I would recommend only buying these products when there is a comparable sale. Also, the UAD-2 Duo will prove frustrating due to its lack of power (I can't image what a one-processor version would be like let alone the original UAD-1!!). Wait until the Quad version is offered free with another product you're interested in before purchasing. Unfortunately, the plugins are also very expensive so you're committing to a pretty expensive endeavor. As for the performance of the plugins, they are generally good. You can find most of them in less expensive versions from other companies however that are just as good. UA's unique ones are where the value is (Cooper, Massive Passive...) so if you get a Quad for free and stick with those, it can be a reasonable investment.
It's just a dsp card. Only as good as the plugs it runs.
I was disappointed my local dealer wouldn't allow me to trade-in 2 x UAD-1's for the Duo Flexi. Well, I guess that's what you get when you live in Thailand and your local UA dealer sucks.
UAD-2 DUO DSP Accelerator is nice chang to sounds.
compressors (1176 e la2a) are perfect: i use them just like a piece of hardware.
pultec eq is wonderful (i always use the pro version).
i'm going to fall in love with the realverb-pro: really a good reverb.
i never used the cs-1 channel strip, not so good i think.
btw, i cannot understand offering plugins that your competitors make without the need of UAD hardware (Waves SSL, Waves API, SPL...).
just enough power to the mix, but too just with plugins requesting more resources
perfect compatibility on win7 64bit
Nothing but good to say about my new UAD-2 Duo. I started out with UAD-1 Solo, but found I had a real glass ceiling in terms of capacity. When I got my new PC, I had to go to the -2 with the PCIe bus, and decided to step up to the Duo. Now, no more bouncing of tracks in order to use more of the fabulous UAD plug-ins. I can now support a complete recording without bouncing tracks, allowing me to fine tune the plug-ins right up to mastering. My only regret is not having the budget to go Quad, but that day is coming as well.
Hiiii

UAD-2 with it's dedicated plug-ins gives you performance unmatched by other manufacturers. It's simply the best buy with maximum value for money there is.
Hi everybody.Until recently, I headed the studio, which is equipped with the SSL-9000 console.I had no idea that digital chipboard can provide sound quality that does not cause negative emotions. But a set of plug-ins from UA made me believe that the manufacturers of analog consoles and other expensive lamp technology there is a strong competitor. But we all know that the final result depends first of all on the head.UA plugins will help bring to an ideal.Try it and will understand what I mean.
Hi,
my uad´s help reducing cpu load, and many of the plugs are really useful!
Greetings
LA 2 and 1176 plus the buss comp blow all my other plugins away. My new favorites. Sound just like my hardware versions. Will be adding more UAD products. Great
I'm definetely pleased to use this device with my plug-ins. I haven't had such amazing sound before and I'm glad to make a work of my computer easier=)I just want you to remake your plug-ins as 64-bit.
Proffesional products for professional Minds !
The DSP Accelerator Card is one of the best gears on my Studio,

It's a worthwhile addition to any Pro Tools rig, particularly given the dearth of plugins for HDX at the moment. I do somewhat regret not purchasing the Quad as, at 96k, you can't run a lot of plugins on the Duo - really, it's suitable for one or two plugins on the master buss and some auxiliaries. The Ampex and Studer plugins are superb (if perhaps a little easy to overuse).
I was looking for more power, i already own an UAD 2 Duo.
Great Card as always, i don't put five stars, just because of the low instance count when using fatso.
